🏑 - LAHC AGM 2021
📆 - 26 July 2021
⏰ - 7:30pm
📍 - Zoom
We have a confirmed date and time for this year’s Annual General Meeting. We will host the meeting on Zoom again this year and have the social aspect later in the summer as Government restrictions on large gatherings loosen.
The Committee encourages as many members of the club to attend as possible as there are a number of key decisions for the club to be voted on.
Zoom link and agenda will follow via your captains in due course.
Excellent to see the return of the Mandy Walker games. A great day, perfect weather, cold drinks, money raised for good causes and some hockey thrown in too.
Thanks as ever to @uclmhc & @uclwhcfor joining us.
This Saturday, we are extremely excited to be once again contributing to the infamous Mandy Walker Games! A wonderful opportunity for the UCL hockey clubs, alumni and Accies to come together for sport, sunshine, BBQs and beers, all while raising money for good causes. The weather looks set fair and we have great day lined up for all.
⏰ 11:00 - Mixed
⏰ 12:30 - M1s
⏰ 14:00 - Paul Burke Match - Vets vs UCL 2
⏰ 15:30 - L1s
An important note on the brilliant charities that we will be fundraising for as part of the day this year. Those playing will pay match fees (details to be shared by captains), which will go straight to the charities, but we will also ensure that any family and friends of the club attending can contribute on the day. As a guideline, we would suggest a £10 donation for non-students.
The charities this year are:
CALM: Campaign Against Living Miserably (https://www.thecalmzone.net/), a leading movement against suicide. CALM offers a free and confidential helpline and webchat open to anyone needing to talk about life’s problems. They also provide support for those bereaved by suicide and work to spread awareness and break down stereotypes and behavious that can prevent people from seeking help.
2 Wish Upon A Star (http://www.2wishuponastar.org): who raise funds to improve bereavement services in Wales. As part of Mandy Walker, a 'Paul Burke' memorial game is played, the charity was founded by his family after he and his young son tragically died in 2012. Paul was a UCL Alumnus and we are happy to continue our wholehearted support for the work the charity does helping bereaved families.
See you all down at Old Cranleighan’s HC!!
🎉 Special congratulations to the Ladies’ 2s who are celebrating finishing top of the Surrey Ladies’ Hockey League Division 8. This is a great achievement for the team having been moved up two leagues following a convincing league win last season.
📣 Captain Kirsten Smith added “I’m extremely proud of the team. The girls have outdone themselves yet again, securing a third consecutive season as Division Champions. Wooohooo!”
